Building Information Modeling or BIM is arguably the most successful design approach in civil engineering in recent years.
A considerable advantage of the BIM model over the traditional 3D model is that it contains not only the geometry but also the information attached to the elements thus offering a much wider range
of use. Therefore, BIM is increasingly being used in the planning of infrastructure facilities.
CGS Labs Civil Solutions have been supporting BIM for the last few years. The biggest advantage when using e.g. software PLATEIA - for road design or FERROVIA - for railway design on BIM projects is that the BIM approach applied is very similar to the traditional civil engineering design. In addition, the tools are very easy to use, as the UI is designed to follow the established design process.
